Get a Signature Facial, Give Back
Want a little extra motivation to book an appointment for one of my signature facials? Here it is: For every signature facial we do at Alexandra Wagner Skin Care, an Art Kit will be donated to a child in need through nonprofit organizations that work to enhance the lives of children. Inside each Art Kit is art supplies and other tools that’ll help children develop their own artistic expression. Sadly, art supplies are considered a luxury in many parts of the world—even right here in Los Angeles.
I feel so passionately about giving back this way because I’ve been an artist all my life, and I personally know the value in being able to express myself artistically. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and I’ve shown my work and still work on commissioned paintings. When I'm creating art, I'm most inspired – that’s when I feel most connected to myself. It's a way for me to escape into a more creative, enjoyable state of being. Art, particularly drawing and painting, is a sacred thing for me. It's what's most essential to my happiness in life.
In 2008, I was visited a school in Cambodia for children affected with HIV, and I brought art supplies from the U.S. with me – all funded by my business, Alexandra Wagner Skin Care. When I was there, I witnessed first hand the great impact a gift of art supplies can make. The children just lit up and were so full of gratitude. This experience was so profound that I felt inspired to continue working with children in this way. It’s my own special way of giving back to the world what was given to me and what brought me so much inspiration and joy.
To create Art Kits for kids in need, I take a portion of the proceeds from the signature facials we give and buy art supplies to donate to children all over the world. By combining my passions for skin care and art, I feel like I’ve created a unique way to give back. To enrich a child’s life through art gives my own life more meaning. Art is something that can nourish people in such a deep and profound way. Many children don't get the opportunity to explore anything outside of getting their basic needs met, and art allows them to discover and cultivate not only a potential talent and gift, but to foster something that is uniquely their own – their creative self-expression.
