What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation of the skin. A buffing treatment that resurfaces the skin using ultra fine medical grade aluminum oxide crystals to remove the upper layer of the statum corneum.
Microdermabrasion is beneficial for all ethnicities, dull skin, sun damage, fine lines around the eyes, age spots, acne scarring, compromised texture, lip lines, . A single treatment will brighten and refine your complexion. It is suggested to first incorporate a facial with your first microdermabrasion treatment to remove impurities from the pores, so you receive the most benefits from you treatment and the overall look and feel of the skin is smooth and clean.
Microdermabrasion and Acne
Microdermabrasion is beneficial for you if we have worked on you skin and helped to clear up a majority of your acne. After we have achieved this, Microdermabrasion will be extremely helpful for any scarring and discoloration, while also giving deeper exfoliation to prevent pores from becoming blocked with dead skin cells.
Microdermabrasion should be avoided by clients who have sunburn, active herpes, have taken accutane within 6 months, are taking blood thinners, have diabetes, aids, eczema or psoriasis on the face. Please take this into account when booking your appointment.
Post Treatment
it is extremely important to wear an SPF 30 (at least) after treatments. Your skin may feel slightly tight, and you may experience slight flaking or peeling depending on the condition of your skin. Avoid using exfoliating products for 3 days. There is no down time for this treatment, so your skin will be in good condition the day of your treatment.
